Here’s some tips for getting the most from your dried flowers…

Dried Flower Wreaths and Bouquets

  • Protect from the sun. Dried flowers from Flywheel Flowers have not been treated with any preservatives. For this reason they will fade if exposed to sunlight, some flowers will experience color change quicker than others.

  • Avoid humidity. Rooms like the bathroom or kitchen may not be the best for your dried flowers. Humidity will cause them to break down more quickly as well.

  • Keeping them clean. Dust is another factor you will encounter when caring for your dried flowers. You can remove dust with a hair dryer on low setting or a can of pressurized air used to clean keyboards.

  • How long will they last? I typically expect to leave dried flowers in my house for 1-2 years. But I have many happy customers who tell me they’re still happy with their dried flowers 5-6 years later. Much of it will depend on your own preferences or house.

Garlic Braids

  • See above… Everything stated above applies to garlic braids. Additionally the garlic is a living seed and will potentially begin to sprout in later winter if the enviroment is right.

  • Can I eat it? Yes! Please do. I consider garlic braids to be functional art. I encourage folks to use the garlic in them. As I said above, garlic will begin to sprout if the environment is right. You can still keep using as it begins to sprout but you’ll want to plan to work your braid by May or sooner for this reason.

  • What type of garlic is it? I grow only Inchelium Red which is a soft neck variety. It does not send up a scape this is where the name “soft neck” comes from. The necks stay soft and pliable. This makes it excellent for braiding.
